How do I get added to the “Box Waiting List”?

If you are a new member, you will be asked upon paying your dues of your interest in being on the “Box Waiting List”, You will be added to the list based upon the date you became a garden member.

If you are a current member who wishes to join the “Box Waiting List”, please email the box coordinator of your interest. You will be added to the list based upon the date of this request.

How do I get added to the “Change of Box Waiting List”?

If you are a current box holder and are interested in changing boxes, you should notify the box coordinator, either in person or by email of your interest. You will be added to the “Change of Box Waiting List” based upon the date of this request.

How do I maintain my spot on either Waiting List?

You must be a member in good standing, having paid your annual dues, attended required meetings and fulfilled Service Hours. Any member who does not complete their garden requirements for the previous garden year will be removed from the list. For a more detailed definition of a Member in Good Standing, see Article II, Section 6 of the Bylaws.

You will receive an email in the spring of each year. To remain on the list, you must confirm your interest by replying to the email. If you do not reply you will be considered ‘no-longer interested’ and will be removed from the list.

I didn’t meet my requirements, is there any wiggle room?

Members are allowed a one-time-only “rollover” amnesty, that is, allowed to complete shortfalls for the prior year’s requirements during the current season if the shortfall is 2 or fewer open or service hours, one meeting, or dues. These members may maintain boxholder status or their places on the waitlist for boxes.

How are boxes assigned?

Open boxes will be assigned in the spring of each year, according to the order of the lists. The first round will be offered to current box holders on the “Change of Box Waiting List.” The second round will be offered to members on the “Box Waiting List.”

I’ve been dropped from the “Box Waiting List,” what can I do?

Members who wish to rejoin the list should notify the box coordinator. You will be added back based upon the date of this request.

Can I share my box with another garden member?

Boxholders may invite someone on the box waitlist to share their boxes, or they may ask the box coordinator to invite the next person on the box waitlist to share their boxes.

I am borrowing or sharing a box, does this affect my position on the “Box Waiting List”?

No, borrowing or sharing a box does not effect your spot on the list.

If I am offered a box and I turn it down, is my position on the “Box Waiting List” affected?

No, a box list member who wishes to decline an offered box will maintain their spot on the list for the following cycle.

Will I remain on either of the Waiting Lists after a new box is assigned?

No. Once you have been assigned a new box, your name will be removed from the lists.

You can request to be added to the “Change of Box Waiting List” for the following season. You will be added based upon the date of the new request.

How can I check on my position on either List?

The Waiting Lists are available to view on the current public stats page accessible from the current members page.

The Box Coordinator will present the latest version of both lists at the monthly meetings for members to review.

How long will it take me to get a box?

As of spring 2017, those who received a private box this season had been on the wait list for 2-3 years.
