Snowtastic Pharm
Members took shifts to clear the side walk and snap some gorgeous photos of snow blanketing the pharm, a week before our annual meeting on March 1 to kick off the next season. Hard to believe that spring is around the corner!

On Feb. 21st, our usual contractor, Arborpolitan, took down the Pharm’s beloved plum tree. Over the years, all have enjoyed its luxurious white blooms, and many gardeners have found respite and bulit friendships under its canopy. The tree succumbed to disease, but Arborpolitan left the garden with some beautiful pieces to remember it by. Longtime member Kayla shared a rendering of the tree posted here.
PHCF members hosted a srub (drinking vinegar)-making evening Sept. 12th where all who attended started shrubs from fruit, herbs and sugar with pointers from garden Coordinator Laura and Selina who also supplied ingredients and samples. A note from Laura: A very special shoutout to Selina for conceiving of the event and bringing us all together for a perfect garden evening. For those of you who attended and waled away with fruit puree and want to finish making your drinking vinegar/shrub, here are some instructions. For the more Serious among you, here’s a recipe from Serious Eats.

Great progress was made on the shed organizing project this weekend! Claire L and her intrepid group emptied and inventoried the shed, discarded some items and organized the rest. What a difference. Stay tuned for the next phase of the shed project — shelving, labels and more.

Come get your home grown plants Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25, 31 and June 1st 10am – 6pm and support Prospect Heights Community Farm in its biggest fundraiser.

Led by our Master Gardeners, a group of around 15 garden members walked through the garden to collectively put fresh eyes on what needs doing this garden season. We identified some small projects and some big ones (like organizing the new shed and clearing the main garden paths). It was a very uplifting way to start the season.
