Free Compost Available

At Prospect Heights Community Farm, we like to share resources with our local community whenever possible — and right now, we have several bags of free New York City compost to give away. These will be available through Sunday. You can either grab a full bag or bring a smaller bag of your own to take a smaller portion home.

If you would like a bag of compost, please visit our garden during open hours (12 to 7 p.m. Thursday; 5 to 7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday). We are located at 252-256 Saint Marks Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11238, between Vanderbilt and Underhill Avenues.

We make compost on-site using food scraps from our garden members and neighbors. If you live locally and would like to begin composting with us, we accept all plant-derived food scraps and eggshells (no dairy or meat).

We look forward to seeing you!

Coming Soon: Mother’s Day Houseplant Sale

Something beautiful is coming to the garden. Join PHCF on May 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our Mother’s Day Houseplant Sale, where popular houseplants including pothos and money trees will be available for purchase.

Proceeds will support garden maintenance and operations, so in addition to sprucing up your or someone else’s home, you will be supporting a worthy cause.

In case of rain, the sale will take place on May 10. See you there!
